Hello all, This is a long over due post. After finals in May, I had no interest in anything other than to binge on movies from Amazon prime, and all things not related to nursing school, including my blog. Anyway, last semester is over. Pharmacology is/was tough. Now I am taking summer classes. I am not fond of summer classes. So this is taking more effort psychologically than I care to admit. Currently there are approximately 40 students in our program (from 65 or so). Many people switched from the one-year to the 2 year program, but the one year is still doable. My advice to anyone considering the one year program is once again: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SUPPORT (FINANCIALLY AND EMOTIONALLY [ + SPIRITUALLY]. YOU WILL HAVE TO STUDY DAILY FOR A MINIMUM OF 3 HOURS. University Of Saint Mary – Accelerated Nursing Program USM is an ideal location for for students interested in earning their BSN at an accelerated pace. Are you looking to re-start your career and move into the in-demand field of nursing? Or, are you a recent grad who wants to move into this challenging and rewarding. If you’re living with family, the one year program is doable. If you have concerns about your finances, or you have to support a family member (child, parent, etc), my recommendation is this, do the 2 year program. The two-year program is difficult, but it is much more forgiving. Someone asked me about text books. I do have textbooks that I have not sold as yet. Fashion start-up. I will also ask some of my other classmates if they still have text books and the going price. Nursing Accelerated Program In Texas![]() I still have: -Pathophsysiology textbook + Study guide (You WILL NEED BOTH!!) [needed for two semesters] -iclicker -Psychiatric nursing txtbk -Communications textbook (excluding APA manual) -Pharmacology study guide Until next time. My first semester has come to a close. This semester has been challenging. ![]() Here I will summarize my feelings in the beginning middle and end of this semester, as well as point out study tools/methods I found helpful for this program, as well as what I need to focus on in the semesters to come. I remember the first week of the program like it was yesterday. I (and possibly you) knew the reputation of this program. I had doubts. I did wonder if I was setting myself up for failure, and flushing a significant amount of money down the toilet. In order to progress through the program two things must be done 1) you must maintaine a 2.75 GPA 2) you must receive a 77% in each course. One of the classes that forced me to question my abilites was Psych-mental health. For this semester the first day of the new semester fell on a Wednesday. We meet for psych on Tuesdays. I remember receiving 6 or 7 emails from my psych professor telling us that essentially we needed to bring the text book to the class each week, and that we were expected to read like 7 chapters from the text for the first day. That would have been bad enough (afterall this is nursing school, so I did expect that) but she also had additional articles (I mean like averaging 5 to 10 per chapter/ topic area). And the emails kept coming in that she “added additional articles for the first meeting.” The thoughts going through my mind was, this is impossible. There is no way to read all those pdfs and all those chapters in less than 6 days! There were other classes I (we) needed to prepare for.
